Guest post: Facebook on the iPad
If you want to check your Facebook-account on your iPad, there are a few different options from which you can choose. First of all, you can check your news feed through the classic way, by opening safari and visiting the Facebook website. But: why opening Facebook via safari, when you’re using your iPad? Seems quite useless to me, certainly when you already have a computer. Also, when you take a look at the graphical aspect, you will see it isn’t that optimal for the iPad.

If you want to fully enjoy your Facebook experience, you can choose in the ‘most downloaded’-list on the app store, between these two apps: Friendly for Facebook and MyPad - Facebook for iPad. They both have their advantages and disadvantages.
Friendly stays close to the design of the original Facebook-website, which is very user-friendly, because you are used to it. I, however, prefer MyPad. The design is similar to that of the official Twitter-app, which is, in contrary to the version for the iPhone, awesome on an iPad. It takes just a few seconds to get used to, even when you’re not familiar with the Twitter-app.
The biggest disadvantage of Friendly is their system for viewing pictures from friends, groups or fan pages. It takes quite some time to load these pictures – even if you only need to load four or five pictures – and the slideshow effects aren’t smooth. MyPad doesn’t encounter these problems at all. Their menu is operated by simple finger gestures, which result in some nice in-app effects. The developers made sure you’d fully enjoy the iPad experience while checking your Facebook! The only minus I can find, is the small bar for advertisement at the bottom. But I shouldn’t make a fuzz about that, if it’s keeping the app free of charge.
Verdict
Friendly for Facebook is a very easy-to-use app, especially if you are used to checking your status updates on your Mac or PC. I, however, would recommend MyPad for the following two reasons: it looks awesome and it is really pleasant to use, much more pleasant than Friendly.
